In a city dominated by McPubs, this neighbourhood local stands out. With the exception of Guinness, Canadian microbrews flow exclusively from the taps, and the menu focuses on hearty comfort food rather than greasy pub grub. It draws a diverse range of clientele: students, thirsty brokers and silver-haired WASPs fill the comfortable two-floor space. The vegetable and chickpea curry is more than just a token vegetarian dish: the veggies are bright and the legumes soft; a bed of bulgur soaks up the rich coconut sauce. Cheery service. Mains $12–$19.
